Your journey begins

Your journey into the heart of India begins this evening as you board your overnight flight to Delhi. Settle back as the miles accumulate beneath you, and let the anticipation of what lies ahead carry you through the night. By morning, one of the world's great cities will be waiting.

Day 2-3

Delhi, India

You touch down in Delhi, where the scale and energy of the Indian capital make themselves known from the moment you step outside. A private transfer takes you to The Oberoi, New Delhi, a quietly commanding hotel in the leafy heart of Lutyens' Delhi. The following day, an expert local guide leads you through the city's extraordinary contrasts: the labyrinthine lanes of Old Delhi, the spice markets of Chandni Chowk, and the great Red Fort built by Shah Jahan at the height of Mughal power. The mood shifts entirely as you cross into New Delhi, where broad boulevards lead to India Gate and the grand ceremonial architecture of the imperial capital. Between the two cities, centuries of history unfold with quiet continuity.

Day 4-5

Agra, India

You travel south from Delhi to Agra, arriving at The Oberoi Amarvilas, one of India's most celebrated hotels, set just 600 metres from the Taj Mahal with uninterrupted views of the monument from every room. The following morning, you stand before the Taj itself at dawn, as the white marble catches the first light in a way that no photograph quite prepares you for. Your guide leads you through its history and architecture at an unhurried pace before the day's crowds gather. Later, Agra Fort reveals itself as a vast sandstone complex of audience halls, private apartments, and shaded courtyards, where the Mughal emperors held court for generations. Day 6-7

Ranthambore National Park, India

You leave the Mughal plains behind and head southwest into the drier, more rugged terrain of Rajasthan, arriving at The Oberoi Vanyavilas, a beautifully appointed tented camp set within walled gardens on the edge of Ranthambore National Park. The reserve is presided over by the ruins of Ranthambore Fort, an eleventh-century citadel that rises dramatically above the lakes and forest below. Each day, guided game drives at dawn and dusk take you deep into one of India's finest tiger reserves, where Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and crocodiles share a landscape of extraordinary wildness. Day 8

Jaipur, Rajasthan

This morning you depart Ranthambore and travel north to Jaipur, the Pink City and capital of Rajasthan. The drive takes you through the landscape of rural Rajasthan, where camels, colourfully dressed villagers, and roadside temples punctuate the journey. You arrive at The Oberoi Rajvilas, a serene retreat set within 32 acres of gardens and flowering grounds on the outskirts of the city. The contrast with the bush camp is total, and the elegance of this place, with its lantern-lit pathways and gentle fountains, invites a quieter, more contemplative pleasure as your final days in India begin.

Day 9-10

Jaipur, Rajasthan

Two full days to explore Jaipur's extraordinary architectural and cultural inheritance. Your guide leads you to the Amber Fort, a honey-coloured hilltop palace looking out over Maota Lake, where the Hall of Mirrors scatters the morning light across ornately decorated walls. Back in the city, the ornate facade of the Hawa Mahal rises five storeys above the main bazaar, and the Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reveals its remarkable collection of masonry astronomical instruments at close quarters. The old city's bazaars reward unhurried exploration, their textiles, gemstones, and handicrafts reflecting centuries of royal patronage. Jaipur, Rajasthan

After a final breakfast at The Oberoi Rajvilas, a private transfer takes you to Jaipur Airport for your overnight flight back to London.
