Day 1

Journey begins

Depart London on your overnight flight to Lima, crossing the Atlantic as Peru's extraordinary landscapes await. Settle in for the journey, knowing that within days you will be standing among Inca ruins in the Andes and cruising the tributaries of the Amazon.

Day 2

Lima, Peru

Arrive in Lima and transfer to the Hotel B Arts Boutique, a beautifully converted Belle Époque mansion in the fashionable Barranco district. The remainder of the day is yours to begin exploring this captivating coastal capital at your own pace — perhaps strolling the bohemian streets of Barranco, admiring its colourful street art, or simply relaxing after your journey.

Day 3

Lima, Peru

A full day to immerse yourself in Lima, one of South America's most compelling cities. Your guided exploration takes in the historic centre — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — with its grand Plaza de Armas and ornate colonial balconies, before continuing to the Larco Museum, home to a remarkable collection of pre-Columbian art spanning 4,000 years. This evening, enjoy dinner at one of Lima's celebrated restaurants, a fitting introduction to Peru's world-famous culinary scene.

Day 4

Lima to Sacred Valley

This morning you fly from Lima across the Andes to Cusco, where the thin mountain air at 3,400 metres offers the first hint of the dramatic landscapes ahead. Rather than lingering at altitude, you transfer down into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a lush, fertile corridor carved by the Urubamba River and flanked by towering peaks. Settle into the Tambo del Inka resort, perfectly positioned to explore the valley's wealth of Inca sites and traditional Andean villages.

Day 5

Sacred Valley, Peru

Spend the day exploring the Sacred Valley, the heartland of the Inca Empire. Visit the imposing fortress of Ollantaytambo, where massive stone terraces climb the mountainside and the spirit of Inca engineering is palpable, then browse the vibrant Pisac market, where local artisans sell hand-woven textiles and ceramics beneath ancient agricultural terraces. Day 6

Machu Picchu, Peru

Rise early for one of the world's great travel experiences. Board the train through the dramatic Urubamba gorge to Aguas Calientes, then ascend to the mist-shrouded citadel of Machu Picchu. Wander among the temples, terraces, and sacred plazas of this extraordinary Inca city, perched on a narrow ridge between jungle-clad peaks. Your expert guide brings the site's history and mysteries to life as condors soar overhead and the cloud forest stretches endlessly below. This evening, stay at the Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, perfectly located at the foot of the ruins.

Day 7

Cusco, Peru

Travel to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital and one of the most atmospheric cities in the Americas. Explore the extraordinary Qorikancha — the Temple of the Sun — where Inca stonework of astonishing precision sits beneath a Spanish colonial church, a powerful symbol of Peru's layered history. Day 8

Cusco to Lima

Bid farewell to the highlands as you fly from Cusco back to Lima, where you overnight before the next chapter of your journey begins. Use the afternoon to revisit a favourite neighbourhood, explore the bohemian galleries of Barranco, or simply enjoy the ocean views from the clifftop Malecón. Lima serves as the perfect transition point between the Andean and Amazonian halves of your expedition.

Day 9

Lima to Iquitos, Embark Aria Amazon

Fly north from Lima to Iquitos, the largest city in the world unreachable by road, surrounded entirely by rainforest. From here, transfer to the port town of Nauta, where the luxurious Aria Amazon awaits. Step aboard this elegant vessel — designed by Peruvian architect Jordi Puig with floor-to-ceiling windows and refined, open-plan spaces — and settle into your suite as the ship slips quietly into the waterways of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Peru.

Day 10

Ucayali River, Yanallpa Creek & Dorado Lake

Wake to the sounds of the rainforest as the Aria Amazon navigates the Ucayali River. Board expedition skiffs to explore the narrow waterways of Yanallpa Creek, scanning the canopy for toucans, macaws, and howler monkeys. Day 11

Ucayali River, Puinahua River & Zapote River

Today's explorations take you deeper into the flooded forest, navigating the Puinahua and Zapote rivers by skiff. Glide beneath a canopy alive with birdsong, watching for the flash of a blue morpho butterfly or the slow movement of a three-toed sloth in the branches above. Day 12

Clavero Lake, Ucayali River & Yarapa River

Venture out to Clavero Lake for early-morning wildlife spotting, when the forest is at its most active. Kayaking and fishing excursions offer a more intimate way to experience the river, while a visit to a local ribereño community provides insight into the daily lives of the people who call this vast wilderness home. As evening falls, take a twilight skiff ride along the Yarapa River, listening for the calls of nocturnal creatures as the forest transforms after dark.

Day 13

Nauta, Disembark & Depart

Disembark the Aria Amazon at Nauta and transfer to Iquitos airport for your flight back to Lima, carrying with you the sights and sounds of the Amazon. Connect with your overnight flight to London, reflecting on a journey that has taken you from Inca citadels high in the Andes to the wild heart of the world's greatest rainforest.

Arrive home
