You embark at Reykjavik in Iceland, sail via West Greenland and the entire Northwest Passage through Arctic Canada, and disembark at Anchorage in Alaska. You begin and end in different countries, crossing from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The alternate departure runs the same route in reverse, Anchorage to Reykjavik.
Devon Island is the largest uninhabited island on earth, with a barren, rocky, polar-desert terrain so Mars-like that it is used for Mars-mission research. Going ashore there is one of the most otherworldly experiences of the voyage.
