The Geographic North Pole

This extraordinary expedition does what almost no voyage on earth can: it carries you to the Geographic North Pole, 90 degrees north, the very top of the world. Reaching this mythical point, permanently locked in drifting pack ice and some 700 kilometres from the nearest land, is possible only aboard the world’s sole luxury icebreaker, a ship built to crush through more than two metres of ice. Setting out round-trip from Longyearbyen in Spitsbergen, you first sail the spectacular coast of Svalbard, with its thousand-year-old glaciers, rugged cliffs and rich Arctic wildlife, before pressing north into the ice. Here the landscape shifts hour by hour, from smooth white wilderness to chaotic ridges and channels of open water, until you stand at the Pole itself, joining the tiny number of people ever to have done so. Throughout, the ship surrounds you with genuine luxury: elegant balcony staterooms, exceptional dining, pools and a spa, helicopters and a team of polar experts. This is the ultimate Arctic journey, the explorers’ Holy Grail reached in extraordinary comfort.
