You reach Svalbard by sea rather than flying straight in, which adds the Barents Sea islands to the journey.
Bear Island (Bjornoya) is the remote, rarely visited southernmost island of Svalbard, ringed by dramatic cliffs that host some of the greatest seabird colonies in the Barents Sea. Calling there is a genuine off-the-beaten-path highlight that air-access voyages miss entirely.
Polar bears are found throughout Svalbard and this voyage is built around searching for them, but they are wild animals and sightings can never be guaranteed.
