About MS Roald Amundsen

MS Roald Amundsen is an expedition ship designed for exploration in the polar regions. Offering itineraries in Antarctica, the Chilean Fjords and the Arctic, MS Roald Amundsen has capacity for 530 guests with each voyage accompanied by an experienced Expedition Team.

MS Roald Amundsen is equipped with a fleet of Zodiacs which are used frequently throughout every expedition in Antarctica or the Arctic, allowing for easy access to isolated bays and inlets. The Zodiacs are also used to cruise around places of interest where landing ashore is not possible. The ship also carries a number of kayaks for optional excursions in selected areas, weather permitting.

Throughout each expedition on MS Roald Amundsen, you will be treated to an extensive onboard enrichment programme. Featuring noted experts in the fields of history, archaeology and wildlife, these talks will neatly dovetail with the daily briefings and recaps.

All of the accommodation on MS Roald Amundsen offer ocean views with categories ranging from comfortable Polar Outside Cabins to much larger Expedition Suites. All of the accommodation options are stylishly furnished and decorated in pleasing neutral colours.

The lower accommodation grades boast various sleeping arrangements, while selected suites have the added benefit of separate seating areas and private balconies. No matter which grade you choose, each is equipped with everything you will need for the duration of your expedition including tea and coffee making facilities, an en suite bathroom and a media/TV player.

In keeping with the relaxed onboard atmosphere, dining on MS Roald Amundsen is an informal affair. The ship’s main restaurant, T.Aune, serves a variety of hot and cold dishes buffet style during breakfast and lunch, while evening meals are served at your table with waiter service. There is also a bistro open for much of the day where you can pick up light bites and snacks between mealtimes.

For those times when you are not exploring or attending one of the ship’s enrichment classes you will be able to enjoy MS Roald Amundsen’s four-star surroundings and amenities. The ship offers a choice of bars and lounges in which to relax as well as as a beautiful Observation Lounge. Rest assured. there’s nothing quite like sipping your favourite tipple as you cut a path around mountainous glaciers or gently cruise past huge waddles of penguins!

Roald Amundsen also boasts a surprising amount of facilities for an expedition ship. These include a science centre, an infinity pool, 2 Jacuzzi’s, an internet cafe and a souvenir shop.
