Aranui 5

About Aranui 5

Aranui 5 is an expedition vessel with a difference. Launched in 2015, she is a dual purpose passenger and freight vessel – in essence, a ‘working ship’. Based in the Pacific, she offers unique itineraries in Tahiti, Marquesas, Tuamotu and the Society Islands in French Polynesia.

Aranui 5 offers accommodations for up to 254 guests in 103 staterooms. The accommodation options available range from well-equipped 4-bed dormitory-style cabins to an incredibly luxurious Presidential Suite. In between, you will find ‘Deluxe’ stateroom grades, all of which boast a private balcony. Aranui 5 also offers deck space for 45 ‘foot passengers’; these are usually locals using the ship as a means of transport to get from one island to another.

Every expedition in the South Pacific aboard Aranui 5 promises a sumptuous blend of exploration and relaxation. By day, you will enjoy a variety of shore excursions and at least one complimentary tour on each island. The majority of the excursions consist of visits to archaeological sites and areas of historical and cultural significance, though wildlife enthusiasts are also well catered for with horse-riding and shark-snorkelling both offered as optional extras in selected ports.

After returning to the ship in the afternoon, guests are free to enjoy their time independently or take part in one of the many onboard enrichment programmes, which consist of everything from craft-making to dancing lessons. Educational talks are also provided with the aim of providing insight into the region’s history and highlights.

The ship has one main restaurant which where all meals are served. Offering a relaxed, casual environment that is in-keeping with the ship’s overall atmosphere, the restaurant hosts a buffet-style breakfast while lunch and dinner are served course-by-course at your table. As you might expect, the cuisine on Aranui 5 has an undeniable French/Polynesian influence and is a mixture of fresh meats, fish and a rich choice of salad and vegetables.

A snack bar is also available during the day and offers a variety of snacks and light bites, while room service is included for guests in the ship’s higher suite grades.

Evening entertainment onboard Aranui 5 is limited, however, a Tahitian Waltz often follows dinner and is a great way to mix with your fellow guests out on the open decks while relishing in the warm, tropical Polynesian air. Elsewhere, the ships Sky Bar is a popular choice later in the evening, no doubt thanks to its fantastic panoramic views.

Other facilities on Aranui 5 include a spa, swimming pool, 2 lounges and a gym/spa suite.
