Itinerary Summary

Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of the Chilean Fjords, Antarctica and the Falkland Islands on this 21 day expedition cruise aboard the luxurious Seabourn Quest.

Your time in the region begins with an afternoon departure from Valparaiso, the seaport situated just 120kms from Chile’s capital city, Santiago. From here, you will be taken on a journey southbound along Chile’s coastline and then out into the South Pacific Ocean bound for Puerto Montt and Castro, two cities renowned for their natural beauty and well worth exploring for a taste of authentic Chilean culture.

After leaving Castro, Quest will continue to head south through the magnificent Chilean Fjords, making frequent stops to take in the region’s stunning beauty and to operate a variety of optional shore excursions which include horseback riding, river rafting on the clear waters of the Petrohue River and, for those seeking something more laid-back, private full or half day van tours.

On the 7th day you will leave Patagonia and arrive in the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia in Argentina. With half a day to experience the city, your time in Ushuaia can be spent soaking up the frontier vibrancy or alternatively, joining up with one of the many shore excursions available. Quest will then depart from Ushuaia in the early evening and begin a two day crossing of the infamous Drake Passage, heading south towards the Antarctic continent.

Following an early morning arrival on the 10th day, you will begin six days intensive exploration in the Antarctic Peninsula. Throughout this time (and weather permitting), you will be given the opportunity to visit a range of the region’s highlights including Hope Bay, Paradise Bay and King George Island while also enjoying a range of excursions both by Zodiac and on foot.

Day 16 will see you bid farewell to Antarctica with a northbound journey towards the Falkland Islands. Spending a day in the island’s capital of Stanley, you will have the time to explore the capital independently or enjoy a tour of the island’s highlights, which include visits to Whalebone Cave and the Falkland Island’s museum where you can learn more about the Falkland’s history, geography and wildlife.

As your expedition draws to a close, Quest will travel back towards South America, where you will be given the chance to enjoy a full day in colourful Montevideo before disembarking in Buenos Aires.

About Your Ship

Seabourn Quest is a sleek, elegant vessel that has been in service since 2011. Unlike other expedition vessels, Seabourn Quest offers all the amenities that you would expect to find aboard a cruise ship, but she was designed for sailing more than just flat-calm waters. A voyage aboard Seabourn Quest will take you on an expedition sailing to Antarctica, with departures from Argentina and Chile.

Seabourn Quest’s expeditions in Antarctica and Patagonia offer daily Zodiac landings in selected locations – depending on sea and weather conditions – allowing you to get up close to some of the region’s most incredible wildlife. You might even find yourself stood atop an iceberg. Guidance and insight comes throughout the sailing from skilled expedition staff that are highly knowledgeable in the area and they will join you onboard and ashore.

Digital photography workshops are also offered, which will allow you to capture memorable moments ashore, and an Enrichment Programme will see expert guest speakers deliver lectures onboard regarding some of the most important aspects of Antarctica.

Onboard, Seabourn Quest offers ocean-view suites for up to 450-guests, making her one of the largest expedition vessels that we offer. Although large by expedition ship standards, this does not take away from the intimate atmosphere that can be found onboard.

Ninety-percent of her staterooms offer private verandas and there are 5 Owner’s Suites available. All suites and staterooms onboard feature flat-screen TV’s, Egyptian cotton sheets, Molton Brown products and fine soaps from Hermes. Collectively there are 14 accommodation grades.

Dining aboard Seabourn Quest is always an exciting culinary experience. The Restaurant is her main dining room and here guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner on an open-seating basis – this allows you to dine when – and with – whomever you please. Also onboard are the Colonnade on Deck 8, Restaurant 2, The Patio Grill and 24-hour room service is also available.
Some of the noted public areas aboard Seabourn Quest include the Retreat, a multi-use area with 2 shuffleboard courts and a 9-hole contoured putting green. The Observation Bar, which offers stunning panoramic views. The Spa at Seabourn – the largest spa facility on any luxury cruise ship, with six treatment rooms, a thermal area, sauna and steam rooms, salon and a Thai massage area.

Seabourn Quest also offers a Pool Patio with swimming pools and whirlpool spas, Patio Bar, several boutiques, Card Room, Grand Salon (the ships main showroom offering expert lectures, cooking demonstrations and movies), casino and self-service launderettes.
