This Mekong River expedition begins with your arrival in vibrant Siem Reap, where you will be transferred by coach to your luxury Pandaw river ship which will be moored in nearby Kampong Cham, your starting point for your journey down The Mekong.
The first full day of your expedition will take in Wat Hanchey, OBT Chiro Village and Wat Nokor Bachey. Wat Nokor Bachey dates back to the Jayarvaman VII period, built entirely from black sandstone.
Day 3 you will sail down the Mekong/Tonle river to visit Koh Okhna Tey or ‘silk island’ to study the silk making process and enjoy an ancient Khmer martial art deomonstration.
Following an overnight sailing, you will arrive in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh where you will enjoy a full day of exploration. In the morning you will be given your own cyclo, a map and are free to spend your time as you wish, though we recommend a trip to the grand Royal Palace and the National Museum. In the afternoon, you can continue independently or join a small group excursion for tours of Cambodia’s Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
Continuing downstream, the fifth day will be spent around the canal system of Tan Chau to visit a Taoist temple before progressing to the Vietnam border the next day.
The penultimate day of the expedition will see the ship moor off Con Phuoc Island. Here you will explore the island by tuk-tuk and then continue to Gao Giong with its bird sanctuary.
Day Seven you will moor of Cho Lach Island for pot making and a culinary lesson before visiting the fruit orchards of Ben Tre.
Day Eight you will moor at My Tho for your transfer to Saigon by coach.
