Explore Antarctica in style on this luxury expedition voyage aboard Silver Explorer. Setting sail from Ushuaia in southern Argentina, this 12-day voyage begins with a two-day crossing of Drake Passage before reaching the breathtaking Antarctica Sound. From here, you will spend the next four days cruising the Antarctic Peninsula where you will pass mountainous glaciers, enjoy close encounters with penguins and marine life and walk in the footsteps of the few whalers and scientists who have worked in the region.
You will then cross the Bransfield Strait to the South Shetland Islands, a cluster of nine islands just 478 miles south of Cape Horn. Noted for its sealing history which dates back to the 19th century, the South Shetland Islands are in close proximity to South America and are therefore one of the most visited areas in the region. On the ninth day, you will leave the Antarctic waters and make a second crossing of Drake Passage before finishing your expedition back in Ushuaia.
For the duration of your trip, you will be accompanied by a highly-trained Expedition Team. Chosen for their passion and knowledge, the team boasts experts from a variety of fields and they will be on-hand throughout to offer insight into Antarctica’s geography, wildlife and history.
