Greg Mortimer

About Greg Mortimer

The Greg Mortimer is an 8-deck, 160 capacity ship offering expedition cruises in the Arctic and Antarctica. One of the newest vessels operating in the Polar Regions, she has been designed to provide guests with a safe and comfortable passage through some of the world’s most remote waters.

The Greg Mortimer is equipped with an Ulstein X-Bow; an inverted bow which allows the ship to effectively cut through the water, thus reducing the impact of any large waves and any vibrations felt by the guests onboard. This has the added advantage of increasing the ship’s speed, yet at the same time, also reducing its emissions and fuel consumption.

Alongside a fleet of 15 Zodiacs, the Greg Mortimer boasts several unique features which have been designed to enhance your expedition experience. Principle among these are two hydraulic platforms which are located towards the front of the ship. These fluid viewing stations can be maneuvered out of the ship and positioned directly above the water level. From here, you will be given a privileged vantage point of breeching marine life, such as whales and seals, as well as wildlife roaming the nearby shoreline.

The Greg Mortimer also carries apparatus for a range of activities ashore. This includes the equipment required for kayaking, diving, snorkelling, climbing and camping. For ease of access, water-based activities are all launched from a custom-built platform located at the rear of the ship.

The accommodation onboard the Greg Mortimer is comprised of eighty staterooms. Ranging from those with a porthole window to those with a private balcony, all of the ship’s stateroom grades have en-suite bathroom facilities, a seating area and twin/double beds.

In terms of lifestyle facilities, the ship offers dining in one restaurant, which is spacious enough to seat all the ship’s guests at any one time. Here, you can enjoy a variety of dishes inspired by the local region, as well as a selection of international favourites. Outside of the main meal times, the restaurant is open 24 hours a day and you are encouraged to help yourself to complimentary tea, coffee and a selection of snacks.

Located on deck 8 of the ship you will find the Observation Lounge, which is the perfect space for relaxing and watching the passing scenery while enjoying a drink from the bar.

Throughout your expedition on Greg Mortimer, you will be accompanied by the ship’s team of Expedition Specialists, who will lead a programme of daily briefings and informative talks regarding the region you are exploring. They will also join you on Zodiac excursions and landings ashore to offer insight and guidance.
