Our tour commences with a three-night stay in the Garden Wing of the Mena House Hotel in Giza, just yards from the famous pyramids. Set in 39 acres of lush gardens, this historic property, built in 1869, is noted for its classic Arabian look. Your private tour will include visits to see the Sphinx, the Great Pyramid, the treasures of the Egyptian museum and the vibrant alleys of the Khan el Khalili bazaar, accompanied by an expert Egyptologist.
You will then fly south to Luxor for a four-night stay in a Superior Garden Wing Room at the Winter Palace Hotel, opened in 1907 and built in classic Edwardian style. It was here in 1922 that Lord Carnarvon (whose ancestral home is that many will know from Downton Abbey), announced the discovery of Tutankhamen’s Tomb to the world. Visits to Karnak, Luxor Museum, the Temple of Karnak and the West Bank are accompanied by an expert Egyptologist.
Your journey continues south to Aswan taking in the magnificent temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo en route to the glorious Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel (opened 1900) where your luxurious Cataract Suite in the Palace Wing overlooks the Nile, the world’s longest river.
While staying here you will have the opportunity to enjoy a sunset voyage on the Nile aboard a lateen-sailed felucca, and visit Aswan High Dam, the Temple of Isis and the Quarries of the Pharaohs.
During each hotel stay, there is plenty of time to relax and enjoy the magnificent gardens and luxurious facilities as well as have time to explore your locations and add optional escorted excursions if you wish.
